Top Ten Celebrity Cat Photos and Why They’re Better Than Dogs
OK you’ve caught us, this is not a list of your favourite celebrity felines but rather a countdown of some of the worst offending newsak on the Internet. The title itself is a prime example of an article that doesn’t particularly contribute to your intellectual well-being but you can’t help but click.
The List
An undefined number of anything and everything grouped together in a level of importance as defined by the author.
Examples: ‘Top ten cities to visit in the UK’, ‘Top ten songs played at a wedding’.
The Revelation
We are by and large nosy by nature as a population and so the urge to find out never before known (you heard it here first!) facts can be sometimes too hard to resist.
Examples: ’25 things you didn’t know about (insert celebrity, film, TV show, animal here)’.
The Photo
Whether it be cats in pyjamas, penguins in top hats or embarrassing snap shots of celebrities, the photo can be a predictable yet unbelievably satisfying way to spend your lunch hour.
The Agitator
A sure fire way to get viewers clicking is to invoke blind rage and frustration, because surely the author can’t be saying what the article title is implying….surely??
Example: ‘I’m too beautiful to function’ – written by mildly attractive middle aged delusional house wife or the ever so popular ‘I need a bigger (council) house’ – written by unemployed couple with sixteen children and twins on the way.
The Hoodwink
Similar to our own, they are the completely misleading titles which lead you to believe you are about to read about the discovery/scoop of the century only to be thoroughly disappointed.
Example: ‘Boris Johnson caught breaking the law!’ headlining an article covering Boris’ latest outfit choice who’s in fact breaking the ‘fashion law’ (apparently).
The Quiz
Because sometimes you just. need. to. know.
Examples: ‘Which Game of Thrones character are you?’, ‘How much of a Disney super fan are you?’.
The Gif/Meme
These are quite possibly one of the stand-out success stories of the Internet in recent times. Complete nonsense and unequivocally pointless other than leaving you thoroughly satisfied that the last seven hours have been well spent.
The Fuzzy Feel
Relating your childhood memories and the outcome of your life choices with an indefinite number of other people can be surprisingly life affirming.
‘Examples: ‘Things people growing up in the 90s will only understand’, ‘Things people from big families will only understand’, ’18 things you will definitely encounter working as a zoo keeper’.
The Fluff
Just that, fluff. Content that serves no other purpose than to exist as is but sounds so unapologetically fantastic you can’t help but click.
Example: ‘Classic film posters recreated with geckos’
