Paaarttyyyy. If you love an event, if you like a mingle, if you like the cheese and the pineapple thingy on the cocktail stick then it’s time to grab your toga and head to party town. There’s a chance that our party references might be a smidge outdated.
This is the job for that rare breed of super social patent attorney, you like going to networking events, conferences and client meetings. You don’t want to sit in a room filing, day in, and day out, you want to be out in the world telling people how great you are at filing. Yes, you will be doing some of the usual patent attorney stuff, of course you will but you’ll have a fairly significant input into what some of that stuff is and how you get to do it in the first place.
This is a role for an attorney who will qualify soon or maybe qualified recently. Someone who wants to move beyond just doing the work. Someone who wants to build on their own with a heck of a lot of support from a team around you.
The firm have a good amount of work (particularly around semiconductors and electronic engineering in general) but they want to build on this. They want someone who will help the practice grow and who will grow into it over time. A highly competent patent attorney who enjoys engaging with people.
It is most definitely hyperbolic to say that this is a role that gives you control over your destiny. But it sort of is. Supported, encouraged but ultimately a chance to build a practice of your own, earlier in your career than is the norm.
