This firm is one of the largest and well-respected Intellectual Property boutiques in Europe, with offices located in the busiest innovation hubs across multiple countries. Their Life Sciences and Chemistry team is incredibly successful, offering highly strategic and commercially valuable advice to clients throughout all stages of the patent process. Clients range from small local inventors to large renowned and recognised names across the UK, Europe, North America and Asia.
Their workload requires an additional patent attorney to join them, ideally in London however they will consider one of their other UK locations for the right candidate. You will have nearly or recently completed your UK qualifications, although those with up to 4 years’ PQE are welcomed to apply. The technical mix is very broad and would suit attorneys from a variety of chemistry related backgrounds; knowledge of pharmaceutical inventions will be beneficial but is not essential.
Responsibilities will include:
- Client relationship management, including further developing existing relationships and building relationships with potential new clients
- Offering strategic and pragmatic advice to clients on how best to protect their IP
- Drafting specifications for complex technical inventions
- Managing all stages of the patent process, including detailed initial prior art research and invention harvesting
- Developing creative and persuasive arguments should any objections arise
- Attending hearings at the EPO and UKIPO
- Business development activities, such as new client acquisition, producing marketing material, and speaking at and attending networking events
