This is a job for a mechanical engineer who loves the mechanical engineering stuff but is not running scared of some electronics – that is, the hardcore electronics, control systems, switches, dials, systems not software. In the main though it’s a job for a well-rounded engineer – aeronautics, packaging, consumer products, logistics, and marine.
This is a job where you’ll be close to the action – dealing with direct clients, erm directly. Big, small, newly formed international or local. You will learn their businesses and how IP fits into their strategic interests and you will deliver advice that aids them in achieving their commercial goals. You will ensure that their defensive IP strategies have a big enough wall and that their offensive strategies have a sharp enough sword.
In addition to advice, given the nature of the client portfolio you’ll spend a good chunk of time drafting and what you’ll be drafting will be super diverse. Complex and not so much from client to client.
