Chemistry (Pharmaceuticals), Contentious‑leaning role 

A London firm of patent and trade mark attorneys with a reputation for high‑stakes pharmaceutical work is looking to appoint a newly or recently qualified Chemistry Patent Attorney to join its contentious‑leaning team.  This is an opportunity to work at the sharp end of high‑stakes patent disputes while developing long‑term relationships with major innovator and generic clients. 

The Role 

You will work closely with senior attorneys on complex, multi‑jurisdictional matters involving small‑molecule pharmaceuticals and related technologies. The team handles a significant volume of EPO oppositions and appeals, alongside strategic prosecution, freedom‑to‑operate analysis and litigation support. 

Candidate Profile 

We’re looking for someone who has already begun to build a credible blend of contentious experience and pharmaceutical subject‑matter expertise. Ideally, you’ll have been involved in oppositions, appeals or litigation support and spent a meaningful portion of your time working on patents that protect drug products. 

We appreciate that candidates may be stronger in one area than the other; what matters is that you bring solid early experience in at least one of these domains and a clear appetite to develop both. Attorneys with up to two years’ post‑qualification experience are particularly encouraged to apply. 

You Will Have 

• Full UK and EP qualification (or very close to completion) 

• A strong academic background in chemistry (organic chemistry particularly welcome) 

• Experience drafting and prosecuting chemical/pharmaceutical patent applications 

• Clear, confident communication skills and the ability to work with sophisticated clients
