A New Dawn for Biotechnology
A Fellows and Associates key client has assigned us to find an extra special sort of Patent Attorney for a tremendously exciting new role in London.
Yes it’s a private practice, yes you have probably heard of them, but we would imagine you are largely underestimating the scope of the opportunities for career development they offer.
They have demonstrated consistent success for a very long time now. That means not only 2006 and 2007 when nearly everyone was doing well but also 2008, 2009 and 2010 when the majority were struggling. In fact they hired new staff during the recent economic difficulty, which really showcased their successful business strategy. So they certainly offer security and they’re growing which means more opportunities will become evident as they expand.
On top of that, their client list is none too shabby either. There will be plenty of companies you have heard of amongst their clients, much of their work is direct and dealing with large multinational businesses.
For many, an environment that is not too Orwellian is important. Developing your own identity as a legal advisor, consultant and Patent Attorney can be crucial to your future, and the firm is great at giving you the latitude to work in a way that suits you and the support to build a portfolio of work that you will get a kick out of.
And that work will not just be the humdrum of preparation and prosecution but original drafting, oppositions, appeals – all the fun stuff.
There are some terrific members of the biotech team already – you’ll learn a great deal and benefit from their expertise, however much time you have had in the profession so far.
Finally and most importantly the practice is a true meritocracy. They really mean it. If you’re good, or even very good, they’ll know and they’ll reward you for it. They’ll reward you a lot. No more negotiating bureaucracy, sweet-talking Partners to get anywhere, or simply waiting it out. Do well, achieve loads. And yes that will mean Partner when you deserve it.
So who do we need? The firm is actually pretty flexible. They have a great deal of work so their recruitment is due to increase, and not because they are replacing anyone (in actual fact staff retention has been very good in recent years). You will certainly be a Patent Attorney defined by biotechnology, there will be no ambiguity over your specialism but you might be a self-sufficient almost qualified attorney looking for the step after qualification a few weeks before the results come out; or you may have qualified a few years ago (or anywhere in between) perhaps feeling just that little bit stifled by your current environment.
This job is great.
Don’t take our word for it. We’ll get you an interview (hopefully) and our client will prove it.
