A specialist international intellectual property practice is seeking an experienced IP Paralegal to join its Munich team. This role provides high‑quality support across patents, trade marks and designs – offering genuine variety and the chance to work across multiple areas of IP.
You will work closely with attorneys and clients on German, European and international matters; collaborating with colleagues in other jurisdictions and taking responsibility for filings, formalities, deadline management, and portfolio administration. The role offers the opportunity to broaden your experience across patents, trade marks and designs, with access to internal and external training and the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and autonomy as your experience grows.
The ideal candidate will bring solid existing IP experience, confidence in managing their own workload, and a collaborative, proactive approach to supporting colleagues and clients.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting attorneys across German, European and international patent, utility model, trade mark and design matters.
- Preparing and submitting applications, renewals, recordals, and other formal documentation to relevant IP offices.
- Managing procedural and official deadlines, and maintaining accurate case and portfolio records.
- Handling correspondence with the DPMA, EPO, EUIPO, and other national and international authorities.
- Communicating directly with clients where appropriate, including reporting official communications and office actions.
- Liaising with foreign attorneys and international associates regarding filings, recordals, and portfolio matters.
- Assisting attorneys with client communications, document preparation, and ongoing case management.
- Using electronic filing and IP case management systems accurately and efficiently.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues in Munich and across international offices.
Ideal candidates will need to have:
- 3–5 years’ relevant experience as an IP Paralegal, Patent Attorney Assistant or in a comparable IP support role.
- Practical experience across patents, trade marks and designs, including filings, recordals, submissions, and deadline management.
- Good working knowledge of DPMA, EPO and EUIPO procedures.
- Experience using electronic filing systems (e.g., EPO Online Filing 2.0, DPMAdirektPro, ePCT, EUIPO tools).
- Excellent written and spoken German and English.
You may also have completed qualification as Patentanwaltsfachangestellte/r or an equivalent IP support qualification and have experience gained within an international or multi‑office IP practice – although these would be beneficial and are not essential to apply.
