One thing we’ve noticed across the IP recruitment market recently is a noticeable number of firms recruiting at Partner level. It’s an
interesting shift when so much recruitment conversation tends to focus on junior and mid-level appointments. From what we’re seeing, firms are looking for senior people who can bring a combination of technical or legal expertise, client relationships, leadership and, in some cases, the ambition to help grow a particular area of the practice.
It also seems to reflect the different reasons firms make senior hires. Some are looking to strengthen an existing team or particular technical area, whilst others are looking for someone who can bring new clients and opportunities with them. For candidates, that can make Partner-level moves particularly interesting. It’s not necessarily just about taking on a bigger title, but about finding a role where there’s genuine scope to influence the direction and growth of a practice.
