This is an interesting one. Not your run of the mill trademark attorney role and not one just for the IP litigators either. This is one for someone experienced working across a broad area of soft IP, with exposure to the more contentious side of the game, and comfortable dealing with complex analytics to boot.
The IP practice is small but highly efficient, working seamlessly alongside the other specialisms within the wider firm to deliver a fully comprehensive and high-quality service to their clients. They’re in need of an experienced pair of hands to help stem their current pressure points of managing their developing portfolio and mentoring the more junior members of the team.
There’s a mixed bag of work, the majority of which is focused mainly around portfolio and client management. Your day-to-day will include all the typical tasks such as clearance searches and monitoring, registrations, and handling any light litigation issues through cease-and-desist letters etc. There’s also a lot of high-level opinion work, where you’ll be expected to sift through and analyse large amounts of data and appropriately advise clients from a risk perspective.
On top of this you’ll be liaising with the corporate team on any due diligence needed, preparing and reviewing commercial agreements, and tackling reputation management issues including defamation and privacy disputes.
The skillset needed for the role would suit a variety of different candidate profiles. A trademark attorney working in an environment allowing them exposure to related areas of IP law; an experienced trademark paralegal from a firm where there’s opportunity to develop additional strengths; or an IP all rounder from an inhouse perspective where you’ve become a jack of very specialist trades.
The firm has both the short and long term goal in mind with this role, with the opportunity to take someone on a Fixed Term Contract basis (with the scope to go full time) or full time from the off. It can also be fully remote if necessary, although there’s plenty of offices around the UK should you fancy spending a couple of days a week around some familiar faces.
