This is a generalisation but there are typically three types of training methodologies in private practice firms. 1) You work for only one Partner in a Star Wars style Jedi/Padawan type arrangement. This can be brilliant, awful or just meh depending on who you are working for. 2) You work closely with a couple of Partners giving you more variety of work and management styles but still retaining the advantages of a close working relationship. If the Partners get on this can be fantastic, if they don’t, maybe less so. 3) You work for multiple partners giving you a huge range of potential work and opportunity to develop your skills but potentially quite a frenetic environment where you lack a little depth in your working relationships.
None of these arrangements are inherently the best or the worst, it often depends on what suits you. However, if what suits you best is option 2) then get in touch. You will be working with two Partners who have overlapping but different technical expertise and client portfolios. The firm has an excellent training record and a great peer group of other trainees as well. The Partners do work closely together so they can, between them, adapt the work they give you to keep you interested and develop your skills.
For the longer term, the firm has great and listening to their team and ensuring that opportunities to progress are ever present.
