There has been a lot of highly publicised instances recently when social media has worked in favour of (and in some cases against) the public image of many well-known brands.

Netflix

Argos demonstrates its knowledge of urban speak during this Twitter exchange with @BadManBugti.
O2
Although it seems O2 beat Argos to it in the street cred stakes with this exchange back in October 2012.
Dominos
A slightly crude but nonetheless humorous offering from a Dominos customer, to which Dominos UK dutifully played along.
British Gas
British Gas demonstrates how the mishandling of social media can have rather damaging consequences.
You would think that they would learn from this mistake, but no. Here’s their attempt at harnessing the advertising potential of Facebook.
David Cameron
David Cameron is quick to tweet his efforts during the recent situation in Ukraine…..and was swiftly mocked by fellow Tweeters, including some famous faces.
Sainsbury’s
This response from Sainsbury’s has been doing the rounds for some time but is nonetheless still a perfect example of how customer service (and it’s recognition across social media) can work in your favour.
Natwest
An interesting attempt at using Vines via Twitter in order to open up direct conversation with your audience.
Taco Bell
Sadly not a chain available across the UK but it is safe to say that Taco Bell is using social media to their advantage, and using it well.
