Finalist, circa £65,000
Jason Boakes and Charlotte Watkins founded Secerna in 2011 because they wanted to be part of a firm that represented their ideals. They wish to work closely with their clients; be able to offer flexibility in their business practices; and be able to develop a firm that welcomes new ideas and talented people. Secerna is personally important to Jason and Charlotte so that means that they want well-rounded, high calibre attorneys to join them and they are prepared to take the necessary steps to ensure that this happens. For Attorneys joining the firm, they will pay you what you really are worth and not the lowest salary they can get away with. They want all of their Attorneys to be a key part in the development of the firm; they are ambitious and wish to grow. Hence they will need more attorneys who will be able commercial managers and potential business partners as well as incredible attorneys in the years to come.
Being a new firm does not mean Secerna has second rate clients or uninteresting work. Jason, Charlotte and other members of their team all come from large practices and have been able to maintain a large firm ethos when it comes to client management. The team works with some of the largest companies in the world across a range of sectors from electrical and mechanical engineering to telecommunications and from biotechnology to pharmaceuticals so neither variety nor lack of complexity will be an issue.
Secerna hopes to expand its workforce by at least two, and possibly three, attorneys over the next year across the electronics/physics, pharmaceutical and chemistry sectors.
At present, they hope to receive applications for attorneys who have a technical background in physics, telecommunications or electrical engineering. They will consider candidates from Finalist level onwards up to circa 2 years PQE (if you are outside of these parameters don’t rule yourself out, there will be some flexibility).
Secerna are now the best paying firm in the Yorkshire region, as far as we are aware, which is a demonstration of their desire to attract the best people to work for them. They will pay a salary of up to £65,000 for finalists and up to £80,000 for qualified attorneys.
