Biotechnology Patent Attorney – Nearly/Newly Qualified, Multiple locations

Salary: Excellent

Job Description

In times of uncertainty this firm has been growing from strength to strength and is now in need of an additional team member to join one of their offices across the UK. The role is expected to help manage the existing portfolio of work, as well as expanding the business further through your own and wider team’s efforts. The firm is well known for its expertise in biotechnology and the surrounding sectors, and has strong ties (and multiple offices) in Europe.

The role will be working closely alongside a number of prominent Partners and offers a really interesting range of work including a significant amount of direct client work and complex contentious matters. The clients range from local start-ups to larger international players, particularly in the fields of food technology, cell and gene therapy, bioinformatics, cleantech, AgBio, immunobiology, gene editing technologies, medicine, bioprocessing and anti-infectives. The biotech team also work closely alongside the firm’s IP lawyers on life cycle agreements such as MTAs, R&D collaborations, companion diagnostics, IP licensing, clinical trials, and litigation.

Ideally, candidates will be nearly/newly qualified with up to three years’ PQE. The work can be highly sensitive and deal with some challenging technical subject matter so it will be beneficial if you are comfortable really getting involved in the commercial side of your clients’ IP.

The firm has a number of offices across the UK and can be flexible on where you will be based. Given the current climate the firm has really invested in remote working and plan to continue this moving forward so the working environment will be a little different to begin with. You will of course meet with your colleagues face to face as regularly as is safely possible and the technical set up and support will allow for as much virtual communication as is necessary, both for in depth strategy meetings and a quick virtual coffee.
