Our client are offering a rare entry level position into the Patent Attorney profession. The work load will have an I.T., electronics and telecommunications focus so you will have an academic background in a relevant discipline. This means specifically a degree in electronics, electrical engineering, physics, computer science or a subject that is closely related to these. If your academic background does not fit this strict criterion then you will not have the sufficient technical know-how for the role.
Training to become a patent attorney takes three to five years to fully qualify and we would recommend you research the profession before making an application. The firm works with a wide array of international companies on cutting edge technology and will provide superb support for training. You will gain extensive early experience, particularly drafting and prosecution, but also the more commercial aspects of being a Patent Attorney. No prior legal knowledge is required, the career essentially builds on your love for technology and physical science and develops your skills in advocacy.
The position is based in Yorkshire with no prospect of being relocated elsewhere in the UK at a later date. Therefore applicants should have a genuine interest in building a career in the Yorkshire region.
